Baltimore’s Penn Station was built in 1911 and, because it joined with other stations nearby, was actually originally named Union Station. The name was later changed after the station was bought by the Pennsylvania Railroad Company in 1920. Currently it is the seventh most used railway station in the country. I sometimes use Baltimore’s Penn Station as a point of transit to Washington DC, Pennsylvania, or New York. This photo was taken while waiting for some friends to arrive for a day trip to D.C. They were delayed due to the annual Baltimore marathon blocking traffic, and it provided free time to take images that otherwise would not have been captured. I like how this image captures some of the wonderful character of the building’s architecture.
